The Berthoud watch, by Mathieu Blanchard, is freely designed with inspiration from the most prodigious master watchmakers the field has ever known. This model is thus named in homage to Ferdinand Berthoud: a chronometer maker who left his mark on history with his fabulous creations, notably his marine clocks which, in the 18th century, guided the ships of the kings of France toward new horizons.

The durability of a product depends mainly on its materials. For the Mathieu Blanchard Signature watches, we use materials that are durable over time.
For the glass, we use sapphire crystal: This is the glass most frequently used in today's high-end watches. Sapphire crystal is 10 times harder than mineral glass and 4 times harder than acrylic glass. It is virtually impossible to scratch except by diamond, which is even harder. This glass is laboratory-designed.
For the watch cases and straps, we have put enormous effort into producing using sustainable materials like natural, sustainably sourced wood and matte-finished stainless steel. This finish provides visual durability, as signs of wear appear much less than they would on a polished finish.

Our main material is wood, which offers a significant environmental advantage over other comparable materials: low carbon emissions during the production process and the biodegradable nature of the materials.
Our watches are handcrafted with high precision by a team rich in experience. Each watch is naturally unique and made with genuine wood such as walnut and oak (sourced from whiskey barrels).
